High-speed Chase Across Two Bay Area Counties
Posted on: 02/23/2014
On February 13th a CHP officer traveling on Interstate 80 in Richmond noticed a driver in the commuter lane without any passengers. When the driver was signaled to pull over he continued to speed along the interstate where the officer attempted to stop the car with a “pit maneuver”, but was unsuccessful.
The chase continued on the freeway reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour until the authorities were able to force the vehicle to an off ramp where the driver eventually flipped the car. The 25-year old male suspect turned out to be armed and a wanted parolee. He had reportedly stolen the Honda Prelude from a home in Walnut Creek earlier that day.
The suspect only suffered minor injuries. He is facing multiple charges and is awaiting trial.
