Balancing Public Safety with Constitutional Rights

Recently the NRA aided in the recall of two legislators in Colorado who were backing the new harsher gun laws. In turn this will make new laws harder to pass congress. Groups such as Mayor’s Against Illegal Guns have been contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars to support advocates of stricter gun laws, but the NRA has spent roughly the same amount opposing them. The NRA decided to step in once they had been approached by local gun owners trying to protect their 2nd amendment rights.
Many state senators are pushing for new gun laws and aiming to make California have the strictest firearm laws in the country. They have mentioned that in the past gun-control-measures have reduced violence, but should also be aware and take heed of what happened in Colorado.
