East County Tactical Team Make Arrest in Oakland

Earlier this month the Pleasanton Criminal investigations unit, and the East County Tactical Team joined together to serve a warrant for a suspect in Oakland.
The suspect had been wanted for his involvement in two separate criminal cases of rape and robbery. He was later identified as Rashad Costello, 24, of Oakland.
Both crimes involved the suspect locating victims though internet “escort” service ads. Costello would agree to meet a hotel and then force the victims to preform sexual acts at gunpoint. He would then rob them of any money or valuable items that they had.
Photo line-ups and DNA evidence were both used to positively identify Costello as the wanted suspect in both cases.
Costello was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin where he is facing charges of rape, burglary, forced oral copulation, robbery, criminal threats, and assault with a deadly weapon.
