Alameda, CA—A police officer was rescued from hit-and-run car crash after being trapped in his car.

The police officer was rescued by bystanders after the patrolling car he was driving got into an accident. It was reported that the front end of the car caught fire making it difficult for the officer to escape by himself. The 19-year-old man who ran after the collision was arrested on May 4, 2016.

Emmith Delrosario was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run after he escaped the crime scene at 10:30 p.m on May 4, 2016 at Fifth Street and Lincoln Avenue.

The officer involved in the accident, Officer Russell Wise, was hit by a fast moving car who was trying to take a turn and hit officer Russell’s patrolling car.

Wise got caught in the car for a short interval after which he was rescued by nearby bystanders and was taken to the hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. The driver, Emmith Delrosario left behind a female passenger, after fleeing from the crime scene.

This made it easy for the Alameda police to identify the suspect within no time. The driver was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries, after which he was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
